What we trim

Any hedge, any height, any species.

A hedge done well is a thing of beauty. A hedge done badly is a permanent eyesore. The difference is mostly experience: knowing how hard to cut, when to cut, and reading the shape that wants to be there.

  • Boxwood, buxus and formal low hedges
  • Griselinia, totara, taupata coastal hedges
  • Macrocarpa, leyland and tall shelter hedges
  • Topiary, cones, cubes, balls, spirals
  • Renovation cuts on neglected hedges

Hedge FAQs.

How often should hedges be trimmed?

Most hedges want two trims a year, late spring and late summer. Faster growers can want a third trim.

Can you save a hedge left for years?

Usually yes. Most species take a hard renovation cut and bounce back inside two seasons. We will tell you honestly at the site visit.

Do you take the clippings away?

Yes, every visit, included in the price. No piles left for you to deal with.
